The tuning fork is supported (5) on a plate (6) that has the electrical connection pins (7, 8) for the fork piezoelectric transducers (3, 3a). The connection pins and the support pins (5) pass right through the plate. The connection pins are connected to the transducers by wires (10, 11). The support pin is connected to the spine of the fork, and the plane of the fork is parallel to the plane of the plate. Damping material (12) envelopes the support pin between the fork and the plate and isolates the fork vibrations from the plate. The damping material is in contact with both the fork and the plate. The design enables mass production of piezoelectric tuning forks, while providing a very economical damping of vibration.
