Queuing controller for computer system - has character strings stored in memory with transmission over universal asynchronous receiver transmitter

A queuing controller to control transmissions between a computer and a terminal, operates in association with standard software to provide expansion and improvement of the systems capabilities. The queing controller (1) receives signals from the keys of an input station and a buffer memory (6) provides coding values. The memory can be of the first in-first out variety and is of 4bit capacity. The memory output is coupled to an address register (7) in the form of a programmable read only memory that has a 16 words of 12 bit length capability. Addresses called up give access to character strings held in a 4 K memory (8), that is partly a ROM (10) and partly a RAM (9). Data called up from memory is transmitted to the computer over an input-output stage (11) in the form of a universal asynchronous receiver transmitter.
