The child's bed is particularly for use in hospital and similar institutions, and has a supporting frame (10), a base (20), traverse upright end sections (16) with handrails, and side sections (18), one or both of the latter being adjustable for height in relation to the frame. Supporting members secure the side section in the let-down position, in which it is below the base and inclined to it at less than 90 deg. The ends of the side section can engage in guides (32) extending part-way under the bed.
