The valve which is to be connected to the pipe is provided with a rectangular flange with a part cylindrical face. The cylindrical face has a recess in which an 'O' ring can be mounted. The length of the rectangular flange in the direction parallel to the centreline of the pipe on which it is mounted, is larger than the width of the flange. A 'U' clamp (3) is used to clamp the valve on the pipe. The 'U' clamp has a cut-out (8) which is slightly wider than the width of the flange, so that it can be passed over the flange and rotated over 90 degrees. Holes are provided in the ends of the legs of the 'U' clamp so that the clamp can be clamped in position with a screw.
