Sheet steel shuttering panels stiffened by U-section profiles at the sheet edges, and vertical omega section intermediate ribs joined by horizontal beams are formed by producing sheets and stiffening frames separately welding them together, and coating the panels. The separate prodn lines for the sheets and the stiffening frames which are both horizontal converge for the welding of the frames onto the sheets. A single prodn. line transfers the panels so that they may be raised to vertical positions allowing the panels to be suitably coated. The panels are raised using a monorail with double hooks engaging the panel reinforcement frames.
