This valve is designed as to cut off the supply of water as soon as the animal has finished drinking, and eliminate any residual subsequent seepage. The valve (1) consists of a body (2) with an external thread (3), enabling it to be screwed into a supply pipe. A passage (4) for the water flow has a circular valve seating (9) and an extended valve (10). A mouthpiece (14) covers the latter, being attached to the exterior of body (2). The mouthpiece is in rubber or plastic with a small outlet orifice (17), which opens when the mouthpiece is distorted eg when grasped in the animal's mouth, but which otherwise remains closed. The mouthpiece encloses a space (15) which retains any water not consumed by the animal before the valve closes, and prevents dripping, leading to dampening of litter.
