Each routine is designed so that it contains one or several microinstructions which have consecutive addresses in the store. The system comprises further an index store which contains a table of start addresses of the microprogramme routines in the store, and there is a device (13, 14, 101, 34, 38, 48, 51) which is used to derive an index address from an input instruction and which stores it in the index store (40). This ensures that a start address for a microprogramme routine for the carrying out of the input routine is obained. Data words of many bits are used.
