1527265 Ferric sulphate preparation CANADIAN INDUSTRIES Ltd 31 March 1976 [1 April 1975] 12884/76 Heading C1A A continuous process for the preparation of aqueous ferric sulphate comprises reacting ferric oxide with 50-60 wt. per cent sulphuric acid in a molar ratio of H 2 S0 4 to Fe 2 O 3 of 3:1 to 6:1 at 105-139‹ C. at atmospheric pressure, adding sufficient water to dissolve any solid ferric sulphate, at 20-60‹ C., separating the unreacted ferric oxide and mixing with further ferric oxide and sulphuric acid to continue to process. The separation step may be performed by coagulation, suitably with a polyamide, and settling.
