Sepn. of acid constituents from fuel gases - using selective anisotropic membranes with high permeability

Removal of H2S and CO2 from fuel gases using membranes with selective permeability through which the acid gases pass. The membranes used have high solubility factors of over 9 usually 9.4-15.0, and high separation factors for one or both of the above gases. They also have acceptable permeability constants providing efficient separation of the acid gases. The membrane is non-homogeneous, and is an anisotropic or composite type pref. an anisotropic type with sepn. factor over 20, esp. an integral membrane of cellulose mono-, di- or tri-acetate with a thin skin on one side of a thicker, more porous layer.
