The vehicle has an overhead working cubicle on the end of a slewing-boom. At the opposite end of the boom (32) to the cubicle (24) is an extension (35) supporting a tailweight (33). The boom can be fixed to a yoke pivoting on a baseplate on a horizontal axis, while the extension is coupled by a link to a lifting arm, itself pivoting on the baseplate on a horizontal axis under the action of a ram. The arm and yoke can pivot on a common axis. The tailweight can be mounted on the end of a telescopic extension preferably actuated by a ram. There can also be a further telescopic extension with a hook or other lifting device at the free end.
