A feed through device is for multifilar cables having very small dimensions leaving or entering tanks containing a gas or a liquid held at a pressure of up to 20 kilobars. The type of cable envisaged has an overall diameter of about 1.6 mm, each of several conductors having a diameter of 0.15 mm laid within a conducting outer screen. The feed through is maintained in position by the use of the pressure of the contained medium acting to force the cable shroud against the tapered walls of the feed through hole in the vessel wall. Insulation is maintained at 100 megohms, the individual conductors carrying a continuous 400 volts.
