A process for decorating cakes or other confectionery, pastry or bakery products on edible supports such as unleavened bread, comprises first printing the support with appropriate solutions, especially with different colours to form a decoration using a brush or stencil; then before at least a part of the decoration is dry, a powdered edible product is sprinkled so as to cover the wet areas. The powder adheres to the wet surface to form a relief without adhering to either the unprinted parts or the dried printed parts. The process is usef for making relief impressions. The process has the advantage of being simpler and quicker than at present, also a variety of effects may be achieved according to the powder used. At present it is necessary to use thick pastes and a metal stencil and in the case of colours to point these first, then do the relief after drying.
