The sorter for cellular and granular materials is provided beneath the collecting trough (1) with a number of displaceable reverse movement bases (2, 3) which are mounted stepped one beneath the other in an area up to about 20 deg. beneath the edge (8) of the trough, with a further non-displaceable reverse movement base (4) being located beneath. The side edges of the bases are provided with conveyor edges (6) which can be of any shape, height or inclination but do not prevent a reversal of the conveyor direction when required. The particles to be sifted which are lifted out through the rotary movement of the cell cylinder are supplied in their separated state to the free cell face in the lower cylinder area of the sorter.
