Wood surface decorating mixt. - is gum arabic and chalk coat followed by gum arabic and colouring coat then glazing coat

To decorate a wood surface a mixt. is made of 15-40% of gum arabic and 85-60% of water. This is held at a temp. of about 70 deg.C and is well stirred and then filtered. The surface of the wood is first pumice stoned. On the surface is applied a first coat of the given gum arabic solution and white chalk in powdered form. The mixture is 50% gum arabic and 50% chalk and fills any small orifices. After drying, the surface is pumice stoned and a second coat is applied of gum arabic and a colouring powder - 20-25% powder and 80-75% gum arabic. A third coat of glaze is then applied.
