A contact plate for heat or mass transfer columns comprises an apertured base plate for rising gas; a liquid inlet leading to one side of the plate, a liquid outlet leading from the same side of the plate, and mass transfer ducts fast with the plate, extending transversely between the inlet and outlet and provided with turbulence inducing similarly angled slots in their walls. Used in chemical and petrochemical industries. High flow rate and good contact between the phases is achieved.
