The hydrodynamic cleaning appts. for cleaning the inside surfaces of cylindrical vessels such as reaction vessels esp. polymerisation reaction vessels comprises a central frame which is designed to rotate or oscillate abouts its longitudinal axis and thas three evenly spaced ars extending outwards. Each arm is provided at its outer end with non-rotatable nozzle(s) for producing jets of cleaning fluid so that when the appts. is in use the central frame rotates or oscillates and the jets strike the surface of the vessel at an angle of 90 degrees measured in a plane at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the frame. A suitable swivel mechanism is provided for the arms so that they can be swivelled into end positions located at the back and front relative to a plane at right angles to the longitudinal axes and into preselected positions in between. In this way when inserted inside the vessel to be cleaned the arms are able to follow the curvature of the vessel to ensure thorough cleaning throughout.
