Process comprises reacting formaldehyde and ethylene glycol chlorhydrin in the presence ofan acid catalyst. Improvement is that the reaction prods are sepd. by =1 liq.-liq. extn. di (chloroethyl) formed as solvent. The process avoids both salting-out and heteroazeotropic distn. to extract the water, and is partic. applicable to continuous operation.
