Conversion allowing agricultural tractor to be driven on rails - has frame with wheel sets which are raised and lowered by hydraulic jacks

A chassis equipped with two railway wheel sets is attached underneath an agricultural tractor enabling it to be driven along tracks. The wheel sets (3, 4) are connected to the chassis (8) by hydraulic jacks (5, 6). For track work, the wheel sets are lowered to the rails and the front wheels of the tractor lifted clear. Sufficient adhesion is left between the rails and the rear wheels to provide traction. When desired the railway wheels can be raised and the tractor driven clear of the track. The tractor can be fitted with equipment for clearing undergrowth.
