The machine for sharpening the teeth (44) of a large circular saw blade (5) uses a system of cams and levers to control the displacement of the two grinders (13). These are mounted on a sub frame with axes nominally inclined from the horizontal, and individually rotated by an integral motor (14). The grinder displacement control mechanism operates in cycles equating to the treatment of a single tooth. An approximately vertical pivoting arm (16) with a grinder (13) on the top (15) and mounted on an intermediate fulcrum (18), is oscillated by a rotating cam (20) contacting the bottom (19). The grinder is moved in directions normal to the plane of oscillation by a doubly ramped plane (21) acting near the top (16). The machine is also equipped for calibration and adjustments in the relative height of the blade (5).
