The crane used in the construction of tall building has a telescopic mast (3) and a hinged boom (4) mounted on a base (1). During transport the mast (3) is swung to a horizontal position with boom (4) lying on top and parallel to it. The mast is fitted with a hinged arm (5) with its outer end attached to a cable (52) which is attached to the hinge of the boom (4). This causes the boom (4) to swing upwards as the mast (3) is raised.
