A process for pre-germination of anemone rhizones, as described in the parent patent includes clean water soaking of the rhizomes at 17 degrees-20 degrees C. for 46 hs. followed by draining, fungicidal treatment and then refrigeration for 5 - 6 weeks at 40-6 degrees C. in a controlled atmos. Appts. comprise a tank in which the bulbs are soaked, drained etc. and a refrigerated cabinet in which the treated bulbs can be held in controlled atmos. conditions. The tank pref. has high pressure water sprays directed onto bulbs resting on a perforated drainage bed as well as an overflow outlet. The refrigerated cabinet pref. comprise air circulating fans and the evaporator of a refrigeraton plant.
