The ac supply system has a power alternator excited directly (or via an amplifier). The power alternator is driven by a rotating machine by means of the current delivered by an excitation alternator having the same number of pole pairs as the power alternator. The excitation alternator is driven at the same speed by the same machine and is supplied from a network of given frequency. The current delivered by the power alternator also has this frequency.
