System for vaporising LPG e.g. butane consists of a tank above ground level with both a conventional inlet and vapourised gas outlet connected to a consumer point by a valve line. A heat exchange coil is sunk into the ground close to the tank. There is a valved feed inlet line to the coil from the lower region of the tank and a valved outlet line from the coil to the tank upper regions. A minor flow of LPG is passed into the coil where it is vapourised by heat exchange with the soil. The vapour is fed back to the tank where it supplements naturally occurring vapourisation. Arrangement gives the necessary artificial improvement in butane vapourisation without consuming gas or electricity and thus saves money and reduces possible hazards.
