The pot is of hollow prismatic shape closed at the two bases and whose centre-line is horizontal when in use. In the top part of the side face is a port whose edge extends in a truncated cone part-way inside the basket, tapering evenly, to form the entrace for the crustaceans. The side faces and bases of the basket are preferably perforated. The basket is formed by a number of shells, each bent along a lengthwise line to form part of the side faces, and two rigid plates constituting the bases. Fasteners secure the shells together along their lengthwise edges, and two or more pairs of them allow a plate to be secured to one end after all the shells are assembled together.
