A fork lift truck has telescopic forks which can be extended to suit the size and position of the load being handled. The forks have one fixed section and two extending sections. The extending sections run in roller guides and are connected to each other by an endless chain in such a manner that the upper extending section always moves twice as far as the lower extending section. This feature enables the truck to handle loads which are some distance away from the edge of the storage rack.
