The pressed metal frame contains the solar energy collecting elements. These are protected by a cover glass (4)which fits an outwards projecting rim formed around the upper edge of the frame. This rim acts as a drip channel into the adjacent rain gutter (12). The rim is fully enclosed and comprises a lower lip (3) angled downwards and continued upwards (1) and inwards (6) to form the top lip. Its inner edge receives the seal (8) which holds the cover glass in position. The corners of the rim are cut away and later capped.
