P Character selection keyboard for transcribing an ideographic language, the characters of which may include one or more of a character component as defined. /P P It comprises a set 10 of character component keys, each of which bears a sign 40 corresponding to a character component. Some of the components, endowed with meaning, can serve in character alone; they appear in a part 29, 30 of the assembly visually distinct from the rest of the keyboard. /P P The keyboard can be incorporated either in a composing machine, in which the data defining the structure of the characters composed by operating the keys are taken from a program memory in response to key signals, or other transcription machines. /P
