3-Acylamino-5-tert.-butyl-isoxazole derivs. - useful as selective or total herbicides for pre=emergent and post=emergent use (PT 12.4.79)

Isoxyazole derivs. of formula (I) (where R is Bu; R1 is H or Me; R2 is 1-6C alkyl, 3-4C alkenyl or cyclopropyl; X is H or halogen), are new. (I) are berbicides with low toxicity to humans, animals and fish. They can be used, e.g. for selective pre- or post emergence control of mono- and dicotyledonous weeds in wheat and rice crops. Specific (I) include N-(5-t-butyl-3-isoxazolyl)propionamide (Ia) and N-methyl-N-(5-t-butyl-3-isoxazolyl)cyclopropanecarboxamine.
