The wide-band dipole antenna has circular polarisation by using linear polarisation pairs of dipoles set at right angles to each other and fed in phase quadrature. The antenna consists of four identical approximately rectangular printed metal surfaces set symmetrically about a centre point and fed symmetrically from this point by identical strip conductors. The whole assembly is built up as an insulating sheet (10) to which are glued dielectric layers (12) making up a thickness considerably greater than the insulation and backed by a conducting sheet (13) acting as a reflector. Connection is by co-axial cables (16, 17) entering at right angles to the assembly.
