The cultivator comprises a set of blades rotating about a horizontal axis and protected by a wheel guard. Behind the motor chassis driving the blades is a plate mounted on the frame surrounding the rotavator. The plate extends the width of the vehicle and is supported by a series of hooks. When the cultivator is travelling forwards, i.e. in the direction F, the plate smooths out the soil behind it after it has been broken up by the blades. When the cultivator is travelling in the opposite direction, the plate acts as a bulldozer.
