The frame provides an artificial habitat for growing edible shellfish esp. oysters. It comprises a stack of plates each with a pair of parallel side walls which support it on the plate below. From each plate there hangs an array of vertical, parallel fins spaced apart by a distance equal to the depth of the molusis sheel. Beneath the fins is a gap through which the Shellfish can exit for feeding during the night. The gaps just permit the oysters to pass through but prevent the entry of predators.
