The internal combustion engine has a piston connected to two parallel crankshafts by two connecting rods. The length of each connecting rod is equal to the sum of half the centre distance between the crankshafts and the throw of the crankshaft. With the engine there is no resultant side thrust on the piston so that friction is reduced with a consequent increase in efficinecy. In addition, with this particular ratio of dimensions the duration of the working stroke is greater than that of the compression stroke and it is claimed that this increases the efficiency still further.
