Cleaning greasy floors with expanded clay - pref. contg. wetting agent, where microporous clay has high absorbing capacity for hydrophilic and hydrophobic liquids

A material for absorbing accidentally spilt liquids e.g. oil, fatty prods., paints, inks, etc. comprises an expanded, micro-porous clay of granulometry ranging from dust to several millimetres in diameter. The expandable clay is produced by known methods and is pref. a Leca clay, the cells being pref. open. The expanded clay has higher absorbing capacity than the conventionally used saw-dust and textile scraps, 1 l of the clay absorbing 5-600 c.c. oil prods. Both hydrophilic and hydrophobic liquids can be absorbed. The ceramic structure of clay also prevents slipping avoiding accidents.
