The removable canvas or clotch cover for a swimming pool has an integral watertight inflatable centre that extends the length of the pool keeping the cover off the water. The cover (1) is stretched round the edge (2) of the pool and the edges (3) of the cover have a hem (5) through which is passed a chord (4) which tightens to hold the cover to the pool. The watertight centre (6) is inflated into a dome shape with air via the flexible hose (7) and a valve, tightening the cover to the pool edge.
