Military laser warning device - detects laser beam by beam splitter and narrow band spectral filters to eliminate errors

The laser warning unit detects the pressure and direction of a laser beam falling on a vehicle. A beam splitter(2) divides the incoming light(1). Each part passes through a spectral filter(3, 6) on to a sensor(4, 7). One sensor receives the surrounding light and the other sensor receives the laser light. Each sensor output is fed through an amplifier to an exclusive- or comparator(9). If the signals are different an indicator is given. The narrow band spectral filters ensure that false alarms due to lightning or sun reflections are avoided.
