Dynamometer for measurement of body deformations - has sensing coils wound directly onto anodisation of body under strain and uses wheatstone bridge circuit for analysis
A detector on a body converts the body deformations into electrical signals which can then be displayed to represent the applied force causing the deformation. A better response is obtained by eliminating the detector coil support and winding the coil directly onto the deforming body on an anodised section. A light measuring body (1) is fixed inside a housing (2) to receive an applied force on its upper end. A section (3) of the measuring body is anodised and a wire (4) is wound around it. A second wire (5) is wound around the body in a similar manner to have the same resistance value. The two windings are connected into opposing arms of a Wheatstone bridge to provide a null output when no force is applied. The cooling effect provided by direct contact with the body allows a higher potential to be applied to the coils.
