Monitoring and control circuit determines the output of X-ray diagnostic apparatus and measures the X-ray dose to a patient. The circuit uses a comparison method between the signal produced by the X-ray apparatus output and a locally generated reference signal. A comparator (8 to 10) generates a signal dependent upon the X-ray does, representing the mAs product and quotient of the dose. An output display (13, 14, 15) and an output limiter (16, 17) are connected to the comparator divider stage. The X-ray tube (1) exposes through the patient (4) onto a film (5). A beam measuring device (6) in front of the film produces an output signal (7) fed into the comparator amplifier (8) and divider (9). The other feed to the divider is from the X-ray tube EHT circuit (11) via an amplifier (10).
