The mixer comprises a tank having a turbine agitator blade near the bottom and a number of finger baffles, e.g. of triangular or rectangular shape for continuously assisting mixing located adjacent the tank wall. Throughout mixing the baffles remain in the vicinity of the slurry liq. level. In constant level agitated tanks they are secured to the tank wall. In variable level tanks they are mounted on floats. Used for processing synthesised polymer particles in the mfr. of elastomers. Accumulation of buoyant stagnant particles on the liq. surface is prevented and a uniform outlet slurry concn. is obtd. The finger baffles, as opposed to full baffles extending the full length of the tank, result in efficient mixing at lower turbine agitator blade speeds.
