The table support is easily fixed to the underside of the table top, and is made of wood. The support is made of at least two sections each having two parallel legs spaced apart from each other. The two parallel legs are joined by a cross beam comprising an upper web and a part at right angles to it, to form a T-cross section extending along its longitudinal centre axis. The table top is formed of lengthwise sections joined to one another with a crosswise reinforcement.
