Pressure bandage is used to promote haemostasis after the stripping of saphenous varicose veins. It is in the shape of a fir tree with a main longitudinal trunk and pairs of lateral branches extending perpendicularly from it. Bandage is made from a double layer of welded synthetic material which is inflated to apply localised pressure to parts of the leg in the inflated condition the bandage has a V-shaped cross-section so as to conform more closely to the contour of the leg.
