THE INVENTION RELATES TO A COPPER CHROMITE REDUCTION CATALYST AND ITS PREPARATION PROCESS. /P P ACCORDING TO THE INVENTION, A COMPLEX BASIC CUPRO-AMMONIACAL CHROMATE IS FORMED BY PRECIPITATION BY ADDING A HYDROXIDE TO A SOLUTION OF A SALT OF COPPER AND A SALT OF CHROME UNTIL THE SOLUTION HAS A PH INCLUDED BETWEEN 7 AND 7.5, THE COMPLEX IS HEATED UNTIL THE DECOMPOSITION OF THE COMPLEX HAS TAKEN PLACE AND THE COMPLEX IS MAINTAINED IN THE PROCESS OF DECOMPOSITION AT A TEMPERATURE NEAR 300C OR LESS UNTIL DECOMPOSITION IS COMPLETED. /P P APPLICATIONS: REDUCTION OF UNSATURATED ALDEHYDES IN ALCOHOLS, ESPECIALLY FURFURAL IN FURFURYL ALCOHOL.
