The quality of tubular parts is checked by an ultrasonic system in which the beam strikes a part of the surface. This is performed cyclically and by varying the angle in given time periods and is controlled by an electronic circuit which allows different sectors of the transducer face to emit a signal. The active face of a transducer is divided into eight sectors (D1-8) which are controlled from an electronic circuit which includes an emission circuit (Mi) and a receiving circuit (Ni). The emission circuits are connected to the outputs of a distribution circuit (100) while the outputs of each receiving circuit are connected to gain controlled amplifiers (Pi) to drive detector (Qi) circuits. The distribution circuit handles signals from a pulse generator (102) when controlled by an address signal (A1-8) from a programmed generator (104) to allow a particular sector to emit the ultrasonic signal.
