The conveyor is made up of a number of sections which have end stops capable of holding the load (4). The sensing device (5) connected to the tie-rods (6) is pressed downwards by the load. The rod acts on the brake shoe (7) which stops the rollers (8) from rotating. These rollers are part of the previous section. The intermediate rollers on the conveyor are free running and have a smaller diameter than the drive roller, so that the load will ride up onto the drive roller.
