The equipment secures two large glass panels along their opposite edges. It comprises an internal profiled support running along the gap between the edges with two side flanges on which the edges rest. An external joint cover is situated opposite the gap and bears against the outer pane faces, being biassed by fixing devices towards the internal section. The inside section (3) comprises a main profiled sheet-steel portion (7) with two flanges (7d, 7e) supporting the panes (1,2). These flanges are extended by further flanges (7f,7g) bent inwards and whose inner ends (7h,7i) form a lengthwise passage between them. An auxiliary portion (8) is clipped between these ends, and acts as an anchorage for the fixing devices (6).
