Grab for loading sugar cane in field - in which flat surface at end of teeth rest on ground and prevents stones being picked up as grab closes

The grab is used for loading bundles of sugar cane, these being picked up from the surface of the ground. The end of each tooth (4) on the grab is provided with a flat bearing surface (BC), which rests on the ground when the grab is open and positioned over the bundle. As the grab closes, the outer ends (B) of each flat surface slide along the ground, immediately raising the inner working face (C) of each tooth before it can pick up any stones. The length depends on the geometry of the grab.
