The furnace includes a frame provided with a door, and side walls along which electric resistance heaters are located. More resistance heaters are located in vertical planes in the furnace, and between the stacks of workpieces so the latter can be loaded into, or removed, from the furnace without touching the heaters. A motor-driven fan is pref. used to blow cooling air through the furnace hearth and upwards to cool the workpieces after baking; and the furnace pref. uses panels of fibrous thermal insulation material. Used for baking glazed or unglazed ceramics at up to 1400 deg.C.
