The method for determining the overhaul life of a gas turbine installation consists in determining the critical elements of the gas turbine installation, whereupon the overhaul life is dependent, recording the time of onset of threshold failure values of these critical elements with reference to a combination of continuously recorded thermodynamic parameters of the working cycle, vibration and discharge characteristics, capacity and life behaviour characteristics with due regard for the duration of action of each of these factors, measuring the rate ( lambda i) at which faults of the critical elements develop to reach their critical values, and determining the equivalent rate ( lambda (To)) of failure development in the gas turbine installation as a whole, which, in turn, serves to calculate the overhaul life (To) of the gas turbine installation. The invention is applicable to turbine installation diagnosis systems, such as those used to diagnose the operating state of gas pumping plants.
