There is disclosed a method of lining or repairing the interior of a tap spout or nozzle for a blast furnace which includes applying a refractory material containing conventional refractory constituents, water, silicon carbide, carbon-containing material, a binding agent and chromium oxide in an amount of between 0.1 and 3% of the total weight of the dry constituents.
