SEPARATING METHOD OF MOLTEN IRON AND MOLTEN SLAG REMAINING IN TAPPING SPOUT

PURPOSE:To separate the molten iron and molten slag remained in a tapping spout by providing a tentative dam on the upper end part of the overflow ingate on the lower stream side of a skimmer and utilizing this tentative dam and a weight. CONSTITUTION:After finishing of the work of putting the molten iron A and molten slag B from a furnace into respective vessels by the use of a tapping spout 2 provided with a skimmer 3, a tentative dam 8 is provided by means of refractory materials on the upper end part of the overflow ingate of a molten iron pool 5, and the top end level of the tentative dam 8 is made more than the bottom edge level of a slag splash 6. Next, a weight 9 is sunk into the tapping spout 2 by as much as the same volume as the volume of the remaining molten slag B. Because of this, the molten slag B overflows in entire amount into the tapping spout 2 from the bottom edge of the slag splash 6. Here, if the weight 9 is hoisted up, only the molten iron A remains in the tapping spout 2, and is extracted through an extraction port 7.
