DELTA DOUBLEESTAR STARTING METHOD FOR THREEEPHASE SQUIRREL CAGE INDUCTION MOTOR

PURPOSE:To perform the switching of windings without turning off the winding circuit by using the delta connection at the time of starting and using the double- star connection after the starting by shorting the terminals taken out of the intermediate parts of the windings for three phases. CONSTITUTION:Terminals X-Z of the primary windings A-C of the three-phase squirrel cage induction motor are connected to three-phase AC power source. The motor is started as the delta connection. After the motor has started, the terminals U-W taken out of the intermediate parts of the primary windings A-C are shortened, the connection is changed to the double star connection, and the operation is continued. In this method, the switching of the windings can be smoothly performed.
